Concept Statement: The Crater Lake National Park Visitor Center will be a thoughtfully designed space that reflects the cultural and natural surroundings of the area, while also honoring the region's volcanic origins. Drawing inspiration from indigenous materials, the architecture will incorporate organic shapes and curved forms that mirror the circularity of the nearby lake. The building's exterior will feature gentle, flowing lines that symbolize the movement of water, creating a harmonious connection between the structure and its environment. Large windows and curtain walls will invite natural light inside, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the lake and reinforcing the center's bond with nature. Designed with accessibility in mind, the visitor center will serve as a welcoming hub for all to gather, learn, and plan their adventures in the park. The food court will offer diners a stunning lakeside view, while a large fireplace will serve as a central focal point, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, particularly during the winter months. It will be an essential stop for anyone looking to explore the area, providing a space for education, relaxation, and recreational activities.

Take a look at my presentation boards and detailed renderings to see how this design reflects the natural and cultural essence of Crater Lake. Inspired by the lake’s circular form and volcanic origins, the center uses organic shapes, flowing lines, and native materials to blend with the landscape. It’s a warm, welcoming space designed for learning, gathering, and enjoying the beauty of the park.
